What We Cherish

Three Terraces

To gaze, to unwind, to gather. One of this home’s unique charms is its three terraces and generous outdoor space. We’ve furnished each terrace so guests can relax however they like—freely moving between indoors and out. On clear nights, the sky becomes a natural planetarium.

Seamless Comfort

While preserving the warmth of the home’s natural wood finishes, we renovated by removing select walls and doors. The result is a layout that gently connects shared spaces and bedrooms—designed so that up to seven guests can comfortably come together while still enjoying their privacy.

Caldera Panorama

Like a reward after a winding mountain road, the view opens up to the caldera of Lake Ippeki. From the large picture windows, you can watch the entire day unfold—from sunrise to sunset. Every room offers breathtaking scenery, bringing the grandeur of nature close to daily life.

Before After

Room Details & Features

Face-to-Face Kitchen

A spacious kitchen ideal for multiple guests, featuring a charming enamel design that we fell in love with at first sight. Fully equipped with a three-burner stove, oven, cookware, and basic seasonings—perfect for preparing your own meals or heating up YAMO’s curated chilled Izu gourmet dishes.

Bar Counter

Mounted on a mortar-finished wall handcrafted by the owner is a skull of a wild Izu deer, gifted by a local hunter. Enjoy a local beer at the bar while watching your friends cook in the kitchen—it’s the perfect gathering spot.

Dining Room

A custom-made large dining table seats up to seven guests. In the morning, it becomes a bright sunlit space; by night, it transforms into a hilltop restaurant with sparkling views outside. Adjustable lighting lets you create your ideal atmosphere.

Living Room

Spanning over 20 tatami mats, the living room features generously sized furniture for group comfort. A projector is installed beside the sofa, and a 100-inch screen can be lowered to instantly turn the space into a private theater

Cypress Bath

Relax and soak up to your shoulders in the large, deep tub made from fragrant cypress wood. Spacious enough for two people, the bath also has a wide window offering views—perfect for daytime bathing.

BBQ Terrace

The larger of two terraces connected to the living room, equipped with a dining set and available BBQ grill rental. It’s also a lovely spot for breakfast in the open air.

Scenic Terrace

The smaller terrace juts out from the building and offers the most stunning views in the house. With a two-seater bench, it creates a romantic atmosphere—perfect for couples.

Japanese Room

Among the three bedrooms, this one offers the best view—including Mt. Omuro. Outfitted with three futon sets, it’s located on the second floor but easily accessible from the entrance, living room, and bathroom without using stairs—ideal for elderly guests.

Entrance

Arrive via a winding mountain road and be greeted by YAMO’s brass logo sign. Open the side door to reveal a wide, open view that makes you feel as though you’ve stepped into another world. The entrance flows seamlessly into the living area and accommodates groups with ease and comfort.

Coffee Beans & Drip Set

Take time to enjoy a hand-dripped coffee moment, surrounded by the aroma. We provide beans (enough for two cups per guest), sourced from a local coffee shop. If you fall in love with the flavor, be sure to visit the shop during your stay.

Art

The artwork throughout the house is by SATSUKI UEDA, inspired by imaginary flowers. Surrounded by the green forest outside, these abstract blossoms invite you to consider—which feels more real, the nature before your eyes, or the ones blooming in your imagination?

Sauna Terrace

Located beneath the BBQ terrace, the sauna terrace includes a sauna tent, open-air bath, and shower room. This private space allows you to enjoy hot and cold bathing in comfort, with a view and without worry of being seen. It’s roofed, so you can even enjoy it on rainy days.

Twin Bedroom

This special twin bedroom is spacious (9 tatami mats) and includes a work desk. Walls and doors in a lake-inspired blue reflect the waters of Lake Ippeki. Watch the sunrise peek over the ridge—gently waking you into the day.

Double Bedroom

This open-concept bedroom is located beside the sauna terrace and can be separated by curtains. It has easy access to the shower, open-air bath, sink, and toilet—making it the most convenient room. You may even catch the sunset here during check-in time.

Bathrooms on Each Floor

Originally, all the water facilities were on the second floor, but now we’ve added a full set on the first floor as well. With sinks, toilets, and bathing areas (a shower room on the first floor), even large groups can enjoy a comfortable, unhurried stay. We believe well-designed water facilities are the foundation of a stress-free stay.

Activity

Private Yoga

Awaken your senses and move your body amidst beautiful scenery. We offer private yoga sessions in the YAMO living room or on a nearby beach. The location can be tailored to your preferences, the weather, and the season.

WILLOW CLEAR SUP

Float gently on the crystal-clear waters of Izu with a transparent stand-up paddleboard (Clear SUP)—a perfect match for the sea here. Spend most of the time sitting or lying down as you gaze at the fish and coral below. And of course, feel free to dive in and swim when you like!

En-no-Kama Pottery Studio

Located near Mt. Omuro, this hands-on pottery studio opened in 2007. It offers a chance to experience the joy of working with clay and reflect on the beauty of using handmade ceramics in daily life. About a 10-minute drive from YAMO. Their philosophy? Don’t just display your creations—use them and make them part of your life.
